Harbor Springs offers robotics programs for all grade levels. Please see the attached document for a description of each program.
Season Breakdown:
FIRST Lego League Explore - Grades K-3 Season begins in October, meetings once per week
ending in January. Actual schedule depends on the coaches' availability.
FIRST Lego League - Grades 4-6 Season begins in September, meetings two or three times per week ending in November/early December. Actual schedule depends on the coaches' availability.
FIRST Tech Challenge - Grades 7-8 Season begins in September, meetings twice per week (more as needed) in November/December depending on competition schedule and advancement. Meeting days will be determined by the coaches' availability and what works for the majority of team members.
FIRST Robotics Challenge - Grades 9-12 Season begins in January but there will be off season activities, fundraising, and mentoring opportunities throughout the school year. The high school team meets most days after school during the season ending in April depending on competition schedule and advancement
Our robotics programs are not just for kids that like to build. There are opportunities for designers, media specialists, writers, fundraisers, and more!
Our programs rely heavily on parent involvement so if you are interested and able to help out, please let us know!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our school-made documentary film, Ripple: Casting for Change, is being featured in Fly Fusion Magazine! Even more exciting, our film has been selected as a semi-finalist for a prestigious Stimmie Award in the Emerging Fly Fishing Filmmaker category.
This is a massive achievement for our student filmmakers and everyone involved in bringing this project to life, but we need your help to win!
The Stimmie Awards rely on community votes, and we would love for our entire school community to rally behind this amazing project.

Dear Harbor Springs Public Schools Families,
I have a very special file folder that I keep at home. In that folder are printed notes and emails from families, peers, and even former students. It is my "encouragement folder." When I look through it, I am reminded of the special people I have had the privilege to serve and to work alongside. The notes in that folder did not come with financial gifts; instead, they delivered the gifts of encouragement, and kindness.
May 5 through 9 is Teacher Appreciation Week. In Harbor Springs Public Schools, it is our tradition to celebrate all staff during this time, which is why we refer to it as Staff Appreciation Week. I believe this tradition matters because teachers cannot teach, and students cannot learn, without our bus drivers, custodians, paraprofessionals, secretaries, food service workers, grounds staff, and administrators. The mission of every public school, student growth and learning, is only possible when the entire team works together.
My hope is that the students and families of Harbor Springs Public Schools will help celebrate our staff by sharing notes and emails of appreciation with those who teach, drive, feed, care for, and assist your children in hundreds of different ways. I hope the encouragement folders of our HSPS staff grow during this week. Your written words recognizing their work will encourage them and remind them that what they do truly makes a difference.
In addition to these notes and emails, the Board of Education is planning to provide small treats for all staff throughout the week. The Board is grateful for the opportunity to express its appreciation for the vital contributions of every staff member.
It is a privilege for me to be part of this school district and community. I am grateful for the people who serve our students each day, and I am grateful for the families who take the time to encourage them. Sometimes the simplest words of appreciation are the ones that stay with us the longest.
