Second Grade

My name is Linda Hammond and I teach second grade at Blackbird Elementary. I am privileged to work at Blackbird and proud to be part of the quality education that takes place here. I believe I am making a contribution to our future everyday!

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science/biology and secondary education at Michigan State University. I returned to school to receive my elementary certification from Central Michigan University. I completed my Master’s degree in early childhood education at Grand Valley State University in 2001. I have been teaching at Blackbird since it’s opening in 1992. I was the Title One reading teacher for one year and then was trained through Western Michigan University in the Reading Recovery Program. I implemented that program at our school for at risk readers for five years. I've taught first grade for 12 years and look forward to moving up and teaching second grade this year.
