Mrs. Hammond
First Grade

My name is Linda Hammond and I teach first grade at Blackbird Elementary. I feel privileged to work at Blackbird and am very proud to be a part of the quality education that takes place at Blackbird Elementary. I believe I am making a contribution to our future everyday!

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science/biology and secondary education at Michigan State University. I returned to school to receive my elementary certification from Central Michigan University. I completed my Master’s degree in early childhood education at Grand Valley State University in 2001. I have been teaching at Blackbird since it’s opening in 1992. I was the Title One reading teacher for one year and then was trained through Western Michigan University in the Reading Recovery Program. I implemented that program at our school for at risk readers for five years. I have been teaching first grade ever since.

We are going to have a great year together!
