Kindergarten

My name is Mollie Carter. I am teaching Kindergarten this year at Blackbird Elementary School. I am thrilled to be working in such a wonderful school. I grew up in Harbor Springs and I am very excited to be teaching in our community.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Marygrove College. My professional experiences include teaching pre-school, developmental kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, second grade and third grade. I have enjoyed teaching at all of the elementary levels.

The students in my classroom are very important to me. The students deserve my full respect, understanding and compassion. My philosophy of education is as follows:

It is my firm belief that all students are capable of learning. Students develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially each at varying rates from learner to learner. Students are naturally curious and exploratory. Therefore, learning at all levels is enhanced through active manipulation of objects and experiences. As a teacher it is my mission to help facilitate the development of each student into a life long learner who can stand confidently, participate fully and contribute meaningfully in our world.
